THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING EMERGING SCHOLARS!
Emerging Scholars (ES) is 100% privately funded and offers educational services at no cost to our scholar families, so your contribution is invaluable to fulfilling our mission. ES is an affirmation that potential for academic excellence exists at all economic levels. By nurturing, guiding and offering educational opportunities to a diverse student body, ES is a catalyst for social change, providing our global society with the critically needed leaders of tomorrow. Your investment in ES is an investment in our collective future.

ES was established in 2002, by a consortium of seven independent schools serving the Washington, DC metropolitan area that recognized there are countless local students who exhibit exceptional academic and leadership potential, but who lack the financial means to attend a school where they will fully develop their capabilities. ES was established to identify such students, help them earn admittance to and financial assistance from the top independent schools in the region; as well as prepare them to thrive throughout their academic careers with the guidance and support provided by the Emerging Scholars two pillared strategy for success, Scholars Academy and Scholars Advancement.

EDUCATING THE LEADERS OF TOMORROW ES has been educating children and preparing leaders in the greater Washington area for over 12 years. Through its comprehensive academic and leadership program, coupled with long-term commitment to scholars and families, ES has successfully helped over 150 students earn a place in some of the top independent schools, where they receive need-based scholarships often in excess of full tuition. ES believes that intensive preparation and sustained support for the entire family are the key components to a scholar's success, in independent schools and in their future.

SCHOLARS ACADEMY AND SCHOLARS ADVANCEMENT
Scholars Academy is a tution-free, 14 month program of academic, cultural, and social preparation, which readies rising 5th graders for admission to Washington, DC area independent schools. Scholars Academy is intentionally demanding, with a core academic curriculum that mirrors the best practices and programs employed by our partner schools. ES integrates critical thinking, leadership ability, social skills and personal growth with academic preparation in STEAM subjects. This ensures that graduates from the Scholars Academy are fully prepared to meet the rigorous requirements of independent school and excel within their challenging new environment. Knowing that they have earned their acceptance, graduates from the academy enroll in independent schools in the 6th grade, determined and equipped to thrive.

After independent school placement, in addition to the many resources offered by their new schools, ES students continue to receive academic and social support from ES staff. Sustained support of Scholars Academy graduates ensures that students remain on track to achieve their highest potential. With this in mind, ES developed Scholars Advancement to provide guidance and mentoring, monitoring of academic progress; identification of academic, internship, enrichment and scholarship opportunities; assistance with the transition to high school and then to college; test preparation, portfolio building, interview rehearsals and more. ES develops and maintains an intimate relationship with each scholar and their family, assessing their needs and addressing their concerns throughout middle school, high school, college and beyond.
SUSTAINED SUPPORT = SCHOLAR SUCCESS At ES, a two pillared approach ensures the enduring success of our students. Starting with Scholars Academy and continuing the journey with Scholars Advancement, ES prepares students for independent school, helps them gain admittance to and financial assistance from these institutions, guides and supports them through their educational experience, then continues to engage and mentor scholars throughout their academic careers and beyond.

EMERGING SCHOLARS SUCCESS STORIES
At Emerging Scholars, the success of our scholars is our success. ES measures our efficacy by acceptance, enrollment and graduation rates; as well as the growth and achievements of ES participants throughout middle school, high school, college and beyond. Scholars Academy graduates have successfully enrolled in over 50 DC metropolitan area independent schools, receiving over $20,000,000 in need-based scholarships. 100% of ES students graduate high school, many scholars having earned top honors and competitive grants, such as the Jack Kent Cooke Scholarship, the Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship and the Bill and Melinda Gates Millennium Scholarship. In 2015, 100% of Cohort 4 Emerging Scholars graduated high school and have been accepted to college, including such prestigious institutions as Columbia University, Duke University, Georgetown University, Johns Hopkins University, University of Pennsylvania, University of Virginia and the College of William and Mary.

SARAH KASHEF: EMERGING SCHOLAR, COHORT 3 In 2014, Sarah graduated from Flint Hill School, where she was Senior Class President. Sarah spent her high school summers studying medicine and global health at Yale, Columbia, Brown and Clemson. In 2013, through Global Leadership Adventure, Sarah volunteered as a third grade teacher at an orphanage in Ghana. Her experiences there inspired her to found the Legacy of Hope organization, focused on ending child slavery and human trafficking. Sarah has also served as a mentor and summer counselor at Emerging Scholars. Sarah's hard work and determination earned her acceptance into the 13 highly selective and competitive institutions to which she applied, and was additionally awarded the prestigious MLK Scholarship to NYU. Sarah decided to attend Columbia University where she is currently thriving on the pre-med track with a Jack Kent Cooke college scholarship.

GET INVOLVED WITH EMERGING SCHOLARS
Because the services provided by Emerging Scholars are offered to families at no financial cost, ES depends entirely on you, our generous donors. Emerging Scholars is 100% privately funded by those who understand and are committed to social change through education. ES in turn works to deepen and strenthen our relationships with donors and encourages them to actively particiapte in the organization. For example, ES welcomes guests to visit the Scholars Academy to learn more about the program firsthand and to meet the scholars. The ES Speaker Series invites donors and volunteers to provide their unique insight and to engage the students, who are curious and eager to learn about them. Please email ES if you would like to visit and share your story with our bright, hard-working boys and girls or learn more about their unique and heart-warming journeys. Emerging Scholars students have overcome many obstacles to succeed and it is only through your contributions that we are able invest in these leaders of tomorrow.

Please consider making a gift to ES, knowing that we will be good stewards of your resources. Your generosity will be returned in the satisfaction of witnessing how much a child can benefit from a dollar, an hour of your time or a word of encouragement. Your support will change lives.
